Being Bored

G'day. So I sit here after my shift at work, wondering what to do with this boredom I have. I thought I'd share on the blog.

EMILY and JOY are having a CHRISTMAS PARTY at the EMJOY PARTY PAD tonight after WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY with the MEN'S BIBLE STUDY and I'm sitting AT HOME because I had to WORK.

So I'm super super super shattered I can't be there. You would be too Sara because Craig's there.

I thought I'd let my sadness out here on the blog in this friendly environment. BOOOOooooooo

Also Nicole, oh my goodness snow looks amazing on that American house. I love it and really truly want to see it in real life one day!

Other than that..MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! Maybe I'll make a video sometime soon seeing as that's what this was for hahaha..

we got snow, lots and lots of snow here is Virginia! In Richmond, where I live, we have about 14inches (about 36 cm) of white, fluffy, sparkly snow. Despite being stuck in the neighborhood and unable to mail anything or buy stocking stuffers (luckily I bought all my Christmas gifts already) I have enjoyed sledding, hot chocolate, reading by the fire and 'walking in a winter wonderland'.

We love you, Em.

I am done with my studio project! After 5 weeks of intense One Week Projects (got assignment Wed & it was due Wed) we were then given a project that would last us the rest of semester. This project is a thermal spa set in the Kimbell Art Museum. I am completely burnt out so this project was not my favorite, but I told Lime that I would post my project. (note: this is literally just the pictures of the project, it will be going in some layout format after Thanksgiving break).

the good news is that I am done with the project (or at least I hope I am). And I have an International Thanksgiving Potluck tonight, its the last event we have for Bridges (the servant team I lead). Kinda bitter-sweet.

So, in one of my design classes we had to enter a competition called GIT 2009. Basically they present you with a problem- this year it was the global recession and we had to figure out how to make saving money funny. So, I realize this is suppose to be a video blog but....I don't have time to make a video and I haven't posted anything in a while.
Lets start by saying I miss you all very much and haven't gotten to skype with anyone lately :( !! I am so over this semester its ridiculous. I would appreciate it if it could just end. But it just can't. My design projects are actually pretty cool but I have no interest in them- one I get to design a completely sustainable, off the grid house. So I am currently sitting in studio trying to make myself do work but I just can't!!! AHHHHHH! hahaha

Ok, enough of the pity party, on a good note today is temporary tattuesday! I got Lisa Frank tats today-they are awesome, some are ring tats! So I'm pretty pumped about that and Sara has some delicious Tim-Tams waiting for me. :) OH MY GOSH- STARBUCKS PUT OUT THEIR HOLIDAY CUPS TODAY!! That means it is officially the Holiday season!!! YAY!!! ( If you can't tell I absolutely love the Holiday cups)

It's 1pm. We're packing and getting ready to jet away to the land of Sydney. The plan is:

- Harbour Bridge and Opera House (obviously)
- Manly
- The Rocks
- Botanical Gardens

And that's pretty well it, because there isn't a lot of time nor a lot of things to do there HAhaha.

Sydney is gonna be heaps of fun, can't WAIT!!

A Good End to an Interesting Semester.

Hey all, i just wanted to share this story with you, but i couldnt be bothered making a video because its late, and i wanted to get it up! So here it is:
During the mid-semester break, I did a week long fast to talk to God and find out what it is that He had in store for me for my projects. I really wanted this semester to be one where the projects would bring glory to God and that I would be able to touch my class mates with the love of Christ and share with them what is important to me and my faith.
Yesterday I had to give a presentation in front of my class explaining my current project and my inspiration for that project. My project is based on the christian persecution that is happening in India and what it is like for myself and my family when my dad goes there as a missionary. I am looking specifically at the 32 days that my dad was away last year in India, because it was the first time that he had ever been to one specific place in India that has crazy persecution rates. I shared all of this [and some more stuff] with my class. I thought that it was either going to make or brake my class. Esp. because my professor for that class [who is also the head of my department] is gay, and I am sure that he has had alot of christians be anti him, which is so sad you know? So many christians are so anti-gay/anti-homosexuality that they hate the people, which is just SO wrong. ANYWAY, so I was really interested in hearing feed back from my teacher.
Afterwards he was like "Emily that was a really good presentation...it is really hard to be a christian in an art school and i think you have done a really good job of presenting yourself...And so Emily, you do realize that basically today, you came out in front of your class that you were a christian, congratulations!" How awesome is that?!
It was so cool to see that it was my last class that God decided to use to manifest all the prayers and hopes that I had for the semester and use me at this time. It was really cool.

Okay, so I would have made a video post but I am sitting here listening to this guy give a tutorial on how to use this computer program. What also stinks is that I do not pick up internet in this room (I am currently typing this in a word document).
It is pointless for me to be here because

1) I can’t download the program because my computer is dying
2) I wont use this in studio for my next project
3) The instructor could easily be replaced by the online tutorial that I would have to go back and use if I ever did decide to use this
4) As students we can only get the demo version that doesn’t allow use to do half of the stuff he is showing us.

Enough of the grumpiness over my studio, I’ll share some happier new! This weekend is our Fall Retreat! Over 350 students are coming. DTM’s dad (Randy Newman) is going to be speaking, we will have worship & the servant team will be performing the Everything skit. At one point in the skit Josh throws me to the ground, and from everyone’s reactions during practice it apparently looks pretty real (don’t worry, I don’t get hurt).

Very random, but I havn’t been able to sleep the past couple of days. I wake up every half-hour or hour & basically am only half asleep when I am dreaming. I have no idea why, I’m not sick or stressed out….very strange. Last night was one of my better nights, only woke up a couple of times, and that was thanks to this little cricket that has decided to take up residency in our home. He likes to chirp & chirp & chirp. I love crickets, when they are outside…not in my room.

So since I can’t get internet I am watching The Little Mermaid with captions and the volume muted. Its funny because I can actually still hear all the music & words in my head perfectly. Every time I watch Disney movies I pick up on new things (especially with the captions on). And sometimes I question things…like how wrong is it that Sebastian watches all the fish being cut to pieces and served for dinner? Disturbing. Also, Disney likes to have people fall in love within 3 days. Seriously, Ariel & Eric didn’t even spend a whole three says together…let alone have a conversation. Cinderella: one dance, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White: a chance encounter in the forest & a kiss. Belle & the Beast actually spend a good deal of time together (at least a season together!).

Yes…I am still rambling. That is because this guy is still talking. And now I will stop and watch more of The Little Mermaid

But epic NOT FAIL to my Geelong boys! Its nights like these that I am proud to be a Geelong Girl!! We'll see if my mood is just as high this time next week, but I do believe it will be! :)

After the game

So I know the point is to vlog on our blog. But I don't have time to record and then wait for it to upload so I'll quickly type.

I'm sitting here in front of the telly, and also with my mac editing my tv assignment. Just finished watching Geelong Vs Collingwood. I sort of wanted the Pies to win just because it would be easier for us to win next week. But also wanted the Cats to win because then it would be way more exciting next week, and also because I didn't want to see a sour lime. But yeah I'll let Lime post her vlog about that.

What I wanted to say is, MY IPOD IS AWESOME. Oh my gosh it really truly warrants the excitement I had for it, in fact I'm still excited for it. What a GREAT investment. It's SO GOOD!!!!!!

Yeah that's all. AFL Granny next week and I'm working until 3.30 that arvo. Why would they even dooooo that??

Oh actually, the other thing I wanted to say was, what was the terrible movie you and Penny watched with the Home and Away actor? (Ahem..yes I'm a Home and Away fan and I don't know why)

It's Temporary Tat-tuesday!

I'm sitting here by myself, Emily and Candice have gone to class and I don't have class for another 2 hours. So I thought I'd share with you guys on our awesome blog. (PS. don't like the current theme anymore)

This morning was prayer with Lime, Candice and myself. But of course it's also temporary tat-tuesday! Here's the theme of today's.



Our prayer today was for our upcoming outreach on September 21st. We're having a graffiti wall and blown up soularium pictures on Bowen St and hoping we'll get some good contacts and be able to share the gospel.

How to Vlog!

G'day darlings

Went to Ikea today with Lime, got on a tram at about 4.45. Got to Box Hill at around 5.20 and alas, the bus was waiting for me! Excellent. Got home at 5.45 and then jumped on my mac to make this for you. So here's a vlog of how to vlog. It probably makes no sense, but hopefully it does. (And hopefully no one else in the world watches it haha)



Another thing to note is that if you include music in your vlog, try and cover your ass by citing the artist, song and album in the description box. But the odds of anybody besides us watching the video are slim so we'll be ok.
